101500 Type 101

Two years after Ettore's death, around 1949, there was a last ditch effort to revitalize the Marque by Roland Bugatti, Pierre Marco and Francois Seyfried. It was intended to use more modern technology such PARATOKS 0553 as a new engine with chain driven camshafts.(Some Bugattisti such as Uwe Hucke still thought this was the case many years later')but this idea was abandoned and mainly spare parts from 1939 were used for the production of these cars. In total six cars were made some of which were displayed at the Salon de l'Automobile in Paris in 19512.However there was no discernable interest for these cars that basically still were based on the pre-war technology. This car was a dark factory built 4-door Saloon, the works prototype3,4.Ithad independentlyoperated Lockheed hydraulic brakes; as before a solid front axle and the body was factory made according to contemporary taste. Originally it had the same type of lamels in front of the radiator as the type 57 but this was later abandoned. It received the temporary plates 118- Dobbeleer) W 67 in 1952.Pierre Marco used the car in the fifties when he used the plates 1125-W4.In 1961 Jean De Dobbeleer bought it from Francois Seyfried in Dorlisheim, chef de service'at the factory- when it had been registered as 468 GW 67 (F) on 13-3-1961 and he had it reconditioned: it was painted old English White and the interior was redone, both by Crieur. After this was finished Seyfried took it back in order to sell it to Fritz Schlumpf. After the demise of his linen factory and the workers occupation it came into the possession of the 468 French state and has been on display in the Musee National de GW-67 l'Automobile in Mulhouse (Code0810)s
