441225 Type 44
From 1927 to 1930, Bugatti produced the Type 44 as a mid-size car built to the same high standards as their race cars. It became the most common model with over 1100 examples sold. Built around an inline-8 engine similar to the Type 35, with two blocks of four cylinders. Displacing nearly 3 litres, it produced 80 bhp. Designed to run quietly and without vibration — balanced enough to reach 4500 rpm. Semi-elliptic leaf springs front, reversed quarter-elliptic rear. Upgrades from Type 38: new shock absorbers, wet multi-plate clutch, DeWandre-Repusseau servo brakes.
