Introduced in 1926 as the successor to the Brescia, the Type 40 offered refined touring performance in a compact, elegant package. Only 796 were built, many with custom coachwork. Chassis 4060, completed in 1927 by Gangloff, was originally blue and later yellow. Once owned by René Bolloré, Cyril Gauthier, and Caroline Bugatti, it is also featured on the back cover of Barrie Price's book on the Type 40.
