Provenance & Story

History

First run by TL Gordon, manager of Lord Harewood's Irish estate, until 1933, the car then passed to Wilford Fitzsimmons of Dublin, competition secretary of the Royal Irish Automobile Club, who raced it regularly, as did Dr Brian Boydell of Dublin (1937-1949). Robert Newell followed, then Freddie Norman from 1954, who fitted a Wilson preselector gearbox and a homemade body, before Brian Nelson of Northern Ireland bought it in 1956 and Lyndon Kearney in 1962. The renowned Bugatti historian Hugh Conway acquired it in 1974 and carried out a complete three-year restoration, documented across three issues of Bugantics, refitting original-style coachwork.
