One of motorsport's earliest disciplines, hill climbing pitted drivers against the clock on steep mountain roads. Bugatti's lightweight, high-revving machines proved ideally suited to events like La Turbie, Gaillon, and the Klausenrennen, often dominating their class throughout the 1920s and 1930s.
