NEVER BUILT. The Type 47 "Grand Sport" was a planned 16-cylinder (U-16) sports derivative of the Type 45; per the Bugatti Trust it never progressed beyond the project stage - only two 16-cylinder cars were built in total (ca. 1929-30) and both were Type 45 prototypes. A 3.0L U-16 engine intended for the Type 47 shared the Type 36 cylinder dimensions. Chassis numbers in the 47xxx series held by this register (47155, 47156) stem from register sources; their attribution between Type 45 and Type 47 deserves review.
